Philosophy:
modaCYCLE was started by a group of fashion photographers who wanted more out of the industry in which they work. This journal is an extension toward that goal. We want to work with intelligent artists who put more than just money and PR spin into their designs. When we report, we are looking for passions, innovation, craftsmanship, intelligence, and examples of excellence in the fashion industry.
We are happy to receive original reportage, and pitches for editorial content.

Policies:
We do not provide letters of responsibility, only assignment letters. If you borrow a dress or some other item to shoot an editorial for us, you are responsible for it.
At this time the only compensation we offer is tear sheets.
Submission is not a guarantee of publication. Materials submitted after an assignment letter is issued will still be analyzed and judged in context with the Journal’s mission and standards of quality.
Written pitches are not required, but it is helpful if you provide some context when sending us images. References to what labels are on the clothes the models are wearing, where you shot it, and what it means to you as an artist are very helpful to our content review panel for editorials which were not pitched for an assignment letter.
We strongly prefer original unpublished material, and this includes publication on your own web site or blog. If you are sending us a submission, please be sure it has not yet been made public.
Use interesting models!
Sending Us Pitches To Get an Assignment (“pull”) Letter:
We are more likely to publish your submissions if you pitch them to us before creating a final product, so we can tie them in with our other content.
You should send us a link to your portfolio web site and include all your contact information with the pitch. It is also helpful if you tell us about your styling team and point to some of their work.
Take your cues from the designers. Look at the runway shows and come up with a story based on what was presented for the coming season. Give us “big picture” pitches, but show your work. There seem to be a lot of people pitching ideas which are more style than substance, and this journal is about substance.
In 5-10 sentences, summarize the story you want to tell.
Photographers without a lot of personal experience in fashion may want to collaborate with a stylist to craft their pitches.
